Bob Kuperman

Bob graduated from Pratt Institute where he studied art history and painting with Richard Linder and Phillip Pearlstein. After graduation, Bob entered the advertising world where he spent his career working at storied agencies and advertising giants, each at the height of their prominence and dominance in the industry. Among them: Doyle Dane Bernbach, the agency that started the “Creative Revolution" where he worked for the esteemed Bill Bernbach and quickly rose in the ranks where he became one of the true legendary “Mad Men” of that era winning recognition with over 300 creative awards for companies such as Volkswagen (for which his work now hangs in the Smithsonian Institute); Wells Rich Greene, where Bob worked directly for Mary Wells Lawrence, an icon in the industry whose agency was known for its creative, innovative and revolutionary work; Chiat/Day, where Bob spend the last 20 years of his career and became CEO of the agency and a close friend of Jay Chiat, an advertising giant ranked in the Top 10 of Advertising Age’s Top 100 of the 20th century. Bob had the unique ability to be one of the very few art directors whose business and management talent were as great as his artistic talent. Bob is the recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, awarded to those individuals whose accomplishments in their field and inspired service to our nation are celebrated.

During his career years Bob kept his artistic and creative side active by teaching at the School of Visual Arts, Parsons New School, Art Center College in Los Angeles and Pratt Institute. After retiring from the agency business, Bob returned to his love of painting.  Bob’s paintings have been accepted into several competitive exhibits judged by curators from major museums in NYC. His work hangs in private collections. Bob resides in Old Greenwich, CT with his wife, Collette.
